Interview with singer and actress of theater and cinema Svetlana Svetikova.
Tell us a little about yourself, where you were born, where you studied, and what kind of education you received!
I was born in Moscow. I’ve been on stage for as long as I can remember. I studied choreography and vocals. Since the age of 4, I have already performed in musical performances. From the age of 8 I was a soloist of the Moscow Children’s Variety Theater. I sang in a rock band. At the age of 12, a wave of different vocal competitions began. That period spoiled me. I took only the first places and the Grand Prix. I traveled a lot thanks to my victories. The final competition gave me the opportunity to study and work in America, but it was at this moment that I got into the musical “Metro”. I fell head over heels in love with the project and didn’t leave. Well, then I rushed off. Star Factory, a contract with Channel One. A lot of TV projects. As a result, I was expelled from 3 institutes, due to participation in landmark projects for me, including the musical “Notre Dame de Paris”. But in the end I managed to finish the drama school of Herman Sedakov. Although it was difficult, because I always worked.
Why did you choose the profession of an artist, did you want to get another profession?
I was born an artist and there are no other options. Without a stage, my life seems meaningless to me. I just can’t live without creativity.
How is your touring life going now?
Very active. A day off is a luxury for me. On the one hand, it’s great, but I really miss my family. I have two children and at first, before they were 5 years old, they went on tours with me. But now they are older and they have important things to do, friends. Of course, they are no longer interested in traveling every day. But we miss each other very much.
What projects are you still involved in?
I recently had the premiere of the rock opera “The Brothers Karamazov”. Well, the most important thing is probably the presentation of the solo program and the release of the author’s album.
Tell us about your family!
I have the most wonderful husband in the world. Ice acrobat. We met on Ilya Averbukh’s show. We worked together on two projects. It was friendship at first sight. We didn’t break up, we chatted all the time. He has an amazing character. But I wasn’t in love with him. I once confessed to him that I would like my children to be like him. And who would have thought, a year later I realized that I was falling in love. And such an unusual infatuation. I just realized it was Him. Well, that’s what I told him on New Year’s Eve. I said I “chose him.” Actually, less than a year later, we already had a baby. My eldest son is Milan. And 4 years later, my son Christian. The boys are very talented and smart. And beautiful. And they have the same wonderful character as their dad! So my plan worked out. My intuition was right.
What can you wish for young people who want to try themselves in show business! Try it! Be brave. Without courage, there is little chance. You can’t get far on talent alone. Character is needed. So, hands on your feet and go! Good luck!
